HIGHER EDUCATION

The location of St. Joseph County puts us in close proximity to the research capability of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. Davenport University and Kalamazoo College, also in Kalamazoo, offer well regarded and unique programs. Locally, Glen Oaks Community College provides many excellent educational and training opportunities.

	Glen Oaks Community College is located in the heart of St. Joseph County. The college offers hundreds of courses that support 11 Associate degree programs and 24 Certificate programs. The total enrollment is 1,400.

	Western Michigan University is located about 25 miles to the north of St Joseph County in the City of Kalamazoo. WMU is a vibrant, nationally recognized student-centered research institution with an enrollment of nearly 30,000. WMU is focused on delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction, advancing its growing graduate division and fostering significant research activities.

	University of Notre Dame is located in South Bend, Indiana, which is about 50 miles southwest of St Joseph County. Admission to the University is highly competitive, with five applicants for each freshman class position. The enrollment is just over 11,000 students.

	Kalamazoo College is also located in the city of Kalamazoo. It is an excellent private liberal arts college that is nationally recognized for its unique curriculum that combines optional off-campus career-development internships and study abroad experiences with a program of on-campus courses and a senior individualized project. The college has 1,300 students from 41 states and 22 countries.

	Davenport University has a location in the city of Kalamazoo. It is an independent, non-profit, multi-location university offering master's degrees, bachelor's degrees, associate's degrees, diplomas, and certification programs in business, technology, health professions, and graduate studies (MBA). All in high demand in today's whirlwind economy.

	In addition to the institutions mentioned above, Tri-State University in Indiana has campuses in Angola, South Bend, Fort Wayne and Merrillville. Michigan State University Extension also provides a number of services and educational programs to residents of St. Joseph County.
