Sturgis Chamber hosts emergency preparedness workshop

The Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Business Continuity Workshop from 7:30-9:30 a.m. or 3-5 p.m. on March 21 at Sturges-Young Auditorium.  Focusing on emergency preparedness plans, it is being described as a workshop that shouldn’t be missed.

How many businesses have plans in place?  While terrorism is a possibility, there are natural disasters such as tornadoes, flooding, fire, etc., that can also effect a business. Eugene Ali, Deputy SJC Homeland Security Solution Area Planner-Intelligence, Emergency Mgt Division will present on this topic.  The workshop is targeted at professionals, retailers, and manufacturers alike.

Special focus will be given to keeping the business running when disaster happens, protecting oneself, employees, and investment.  The presentation will range from small inconveniences to total disasters.

The workshop is free.  However, a $5 per person donation is requested to cover the cost of the room and refreshments.  Two timeframes are being offered to accommodate schedules.  Make reservations with the Sturgis Chamber of Commerce by calling 651-5758 or by sending an e-mail to sturgischamber@charter.net.
