Sustainability Council hosts benefit golf scramble

 
CENTREVILLE – The Sustainability Council of St. Joseph County is seeking four-person teams for their first annual Best Ball Scramble. Check in begins at 9 a.m. on August 12 at Island Hills Golf Club in Centreville. Teams will tee off at 10 a.m.

The event is being co-hosted by The National Civility Center, and proceeds will benefit programs for the youth and future generations in St. Joseph County.

Prizes will be awarded in categories such as closest to pin, longest drive, on the green and team placement. Raffle tickets will also be available to purchase for cash awards.

The cost is $65 per person. The council is also looking for companies and individuals willing to donate a $50 tee sponsorship or gift.

The mission of the Sustainability Council of St. Joseph County is to provide for the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future.

“We intend to do this by promoting a positive climate for business growth in St. Joseph County and the surrounding area,” said Jay Newman, founder of the organization. “In doing this, we want to encourage the development of an entrepreneurial spirit in our youth and where appropriate in current employees. We desire to achieve this in a way that honors and supports the great people of this region and preserves our marvelous and beautiful environment.”
